An Invitation to Warriorship: A Weekend Retreat

Margaret Wheatley

“I want us to claim this role [of warrior] for ourselves, to be warriors for the human spirit, people brave enough to refrain from adding to the fear and aggression of this time. This is no easy task, not to meet aggression with aggression, to consciously choose to stay out of fear and support others to do the same, to quell the anxiety and anger that erupts so reflexively and choose for peace. Of course it’s hard–what isn’t these days? I just want to be struggling for the right things.”

— Margaret Wheatley, author of Leadership and the New Science: Discovering Order in a Chaotic World, Perseverance, and So Far From Home:  Lost and Found in Our Brave New World.

  • In a world of peril and promise, how can you work to renew our communities and organizations without succumbing to the fear and aggression of these times?

  • How can you learn how to persevere, remain focused, and confident, sustaining yourself as you answer a vocational calling to serve the issues and people you care about?

  • How can you focus not so much on making a difference, as on being a difference?

Learn, renew, and connect with one of the foremost leaders in applying living systems theory to communities, organizations, and sustainable leadership: Margaret Wheatley.

In this weekend retreat, Meg invites you to consciously choose a new role for yourself, that of a warrior for the human spirit. (The term “warrior” is used from the Tibetan tradition of “one who is brave,” brave enough to never use aggression, whose only “weapons” are compassion and insight.) As a warrior for the human spirit, you discover our right work, work that is ours to do no matter what. You engage wholeheartedly, embody values we cherish, let go of outcomes, and are vigilant with your relationships.

This retreat is based on Meg’s most recent book, So Far From Home: Lost and Found in Our Brave New World (Berrett-Koehler, October 2012).
