A reflection on Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness by Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche

In contemplative meditation, we use the stability of mind developed in basic meditation to investigate directly the nature of our experience. The Buddha taught that the root cause of our unhappiness is a basic misperception of reality. Through contemplation, we can see through this misperception and free ourselves from painful habitual patterns of thought and emotion. Using the book Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness by Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche as a foundation, each class will include experiential exercises, guided meditation and discussion.

Prerequisites: At least six months daily shamatha meditation practice or equivalent. Strongly encouraged completion of Hinayana Study courses: Hin 201 and 202, concurrent or previous enrollment in Mahayana Study courses recommended.

Required materials: Updated, 2016 edition of Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness

Instructor: Karen Wallace, Nalandabodhi Seattle practice director,  senior practice instructor  and  long-time student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.
