Concert: cello and vocals + artist interview

Jun 11, 2019, 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Join us for an improvised cello duo of Lori Goldston and Judith Hamann. Then spacious story telling by the Ashley Eriksson Project.  The performances will be followed by a conversation on the work of no work — Where does the mind go when artists create?

Classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit, Lori Goldston is a cellist, composer, improvisor, producer, writer and teacher from Seattle. She has studied contemporary classical repertoire, as well as developing a strong practice in improvisation and sonic arts through collaborative projects both in Australia and internationally ,working with artists and ensembles including Australian Art Orchestra, Oren Ambarchi, Dennis Cooper , Sarah Hennies, Graham Lambkin, Alvin Lucier, Roscoe Mitchell, Toshimaru Nakamura, The Necks, Áine O’Dwyer, Wadada Leo Smith, Ilan Volkov, Tashi Wada, Manfred Werder, La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela, and John Zorn. Judith is a member of Golden Fur, Hammers Lake, The Argonaut String Quartet, and has duo projects with Rosalind Hall, Anthea Caddy, and Lori Goldston.
