Sunday Open Meditation + Teachings on Mind Training by Mitra Tyler

We begin our morning with shamatha (calm abiding) meditation at10:00 am followed by a talk by Mitra Tyler on the Seven Points of Training the Mind at 11 am. The mind training teachings are very practical and comprehensive and give us tools to work with difficult aspects of our experience by welcoming them and seeing them as opportunities to connect with loving-kindness, compassion, and wisdom.

This year’s Winter Retreat will include morning and afternoon meditation sessions plus an evening Mahamudra meditation, with teachings and contemplations on the 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva and Lojong Mind Training.
We step into Winter Retreat to discover how these practices are useful for our lives today. We learn to make them personal, relevant solutions to the problems we face on a daily basis. Not lofty, just practical. Not an immediate fix, but an ongoing support that leads to the change we want.
