“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” –Maya Angelou

Every year Nalanda West event center offers a wide array of programming choices for living a contemplative life in the 21st century. Like its namesake, the historic Nalanda University of India, Nalanda West helps people explore fresh approaches to health, communication, and creative arts, as well as insights into the mind, from diverse spiritual traditions.

In 2019, we are launching a fundraising campaign to replace our roof in the Spring of 2020. Part of maintaining our beautiful space is meeting its needs for repair and refreshment, and this is a much needed large project. We are looking to raise $80,000 USD in order to cover the costs of having professional contractors replace our roof and keep us all dry from the Seattle rain. Please help us keep Nalanda West as a space for our community to come together, engage in contemplative practice, and provide an environment of kindness for all.

“Genuine altruism comes from a state of equanimity. We’re at peace with ourselves and content with what we have. Having overcome self-fixation, we’re relaxed and happy. Giving is effortless and a source of joy.”
— Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Rebel Buddha

Every year, generous donors provide vital support to the mission of Nalanda West — to be a resource for those who seek to live a meaningful life, across all wisdom traditions. As a Friend of Nalanda West, your contributions make it possible to keep the doors open and lights on, to provide the technology necessary for high quality audio and video recordings. “Genuine altruism comes from a state of equanimity. More

Every Friday night Nalanda West hosts Nalandabodhi Seattle’s open practice dedicated to the bodhisattva Tara. Tara is known for dispelling obstacles and fear, and supporting people through difficulties like sickness and poverty. The virtue she is most closely associated with is generosity.

In an effort to expand our practice of Tara from the cushion to the community, Nalanda West & Nalandabodhi Seattle have begun a partnered community service initiative called Tara In Action. We have begun seasonal giving projects such as our Warm Sock Donations that will take place from October to February. We also have a Non-Perishable Food Drive taking place from the first week of November until November 25, 2019.

Please bring donations to the community room in the main building from 12 pm-6 pm Sunday through Thursday or during regular weekly programs and events. You may also donate online to support this project below.
