Songs of Realization: Sing-Along & Social

May 21, 2018, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The buddhas surely do sing and dance.
To sing and dance is surely profound practice.
By practicing profound song and dance,
We reach enlightenment — how amazing!”
-Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche

Buddhist teachings and spiritual experiences are often communicated through experiential songs. Inspired by Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, who teaches from the songs of Milarepa, Götsangpa, and other lineage masters, Christopher Stagg will lead us in song and connection.

Chris is a Tibetan translator and interpreter for Nalandabodhi and the Nitartha Institute, who has studied at Vajra Vidya Institute in Varanasi, India, and at Namo Buddha in Nepal. He recently translated The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa (Shambhala, 2018) under the direction of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche. He has degrees in voice performance and music education.

Join us in the dining room for a sing-a-long and social. After socializing and talking about which songs we’d like to learn, Chris Stagg will lead us in song and we’ll sing, sing, sing (and socialize some more)!

Nalandabodhi Seattle will offer light food and drink. Donations are welcome for food and for the event.

This event is open to the public.
